Natalie Castellanos-Ryan est chercheure au CHU Sainte-Justine de Montréal et professeure agrégée à l'École de psychoéducation, Université de Montréal. 

La recherche de Dr Castellanos Ryan porte sur l'étude du développement humain de la naissance au jeune âge adulte, y compris le développement comportemental, cognitif et socio-émotionnel. En collaboration avec autres, ses travaux suivent des cohortes longitudinales de grossesse et de naissance d'enfants et de leurs familles jusqu'à l'âge adulte, en examinant les facteurs biologiques et sociaux en jeu au cours du développement. Plus spécifiquement, l’expertise de Dr Castellanos-Ryan inclut : 1) le développement de la toxicomanie et les troubles de santé mentale, 2) des facteurs de risque/protection partagés entre les troubles de santé mentale, en particulier les troubles extériorisés, 3) leurs conséquences, et 4) leur prévention. Intérêts plus spécifiques comprennent aussi comment les déficits d'autorégulation (l'impulsivité), ainsi que le développement pubertaire et cognitif, prédisent, en interaction avec de facteurs environnementaux, les problèmes de toxicomanie et la comorbidité psychopathologique chez les jeunes.
